Curbing the Childhood Obesity Epidemic

Web Series Lays Out the Problems AND the Solutions

Every day, we hear about what’s wrong with society—the tanked economy, high unemployment rates, crime, etc. However, we rarely get reports on one of the biggest problems facing our country today: childhood obesity.

Did you know that the current generation of children is the first generation that will live shorter lives than their parents? That’s a scary statistic that we can’t afford to ignore.

Thankfully, a new web series from the Visual MD has brought this epidemic into focus.

Check it out:

See why we’re experiencing an epidemic of childhood obesity—and how you can help your child to get fit and stay healthy. You’ll hear experts talk about why weight management for children is all about health, not about appearance. Kids are eating more food—much of it unhealthy—and moving less. But there’s good news. For kids, small changes, like getting outside more and substituting healthy for unhealthy snacks, can make a big difference. Forming habits like eating breakfast and including kids in making homemade meals is extremely important for health and for better performance in school.

Be sure to watch the other 12 videos here.

It’s time to take a proactive approach to ending the childhood obesity epidemic. Small changes at the beginning will lead to monumental changes in the future.
