Have you been wondering whether you could run a healthy vending business out of your home? The answer is YES! HUMAN was recently ranked #1 in category and #81 overall on Entrepreneur Magazine’s list of “Top Homebased Businesses.” Two of HUMAN’s top franchisees, Trevor Hawley and Zach Dirks, even had a full-page feature in the issue because they run their homebased healthy vending business out of a boat!

The Ranking: HUMAN as a Top Homebased Business

The April issue of Entrepreneur features the rankings of “Top Homebased Businesses,” which are pulled from the fastest-growing companies that made Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500®. The qualifications for ranking on this list require that the franchise offers franchisees the opportunity to own the business without an office space or retail location.

Entrepreneur’s rankings are considered the world’s most comprehensive franchise ranking. Entrepreneur determines the Franchise 500® rankings based on franchises’ financial strength and stability, growth rate, and system size and is a top competitive tool of measuring franchises.

Healthy Vending Business from a Boat

In addition to the ranking, HUMAN franchisees Trevor Hawley and Zach Dirks are featured in the April issue of Entrepreneur for their especially unique circumstances: they not only run their healthy vending business from home but their home is a boat in the Bay Area!

Trevor and Zach are based out of Fremont, CA and have 17 healthy vending machines in schools. They have a service agreement with Fremont Unified School District and were in the running last year for the International Franchise Association’s “Franchisee of the Year” award, and we can see why.

The Impact of Healthy Vending on a Local Community

Check out this interview with FUSD school Irvington High School’s principal Sarah Smoot who praises Trevor and Zach for their professionalism, customer service skills, and overall desire to improve their schools’ health.

Trevor and Zach have truly awed their locations with their superb service and have helped make their community healthier. Now, they’re seeing the results of their hard work. From the Entrepreneur article, “‘We’ve really been successful by thinking outside the box and having an open mind,’ Hawley says. ‘Now we’re starting to reap the fruits of our labor. And honestly, it’s probably just going to help us get a bigger boat.’ Adds Dirks, ‘There’s always going to be a bigger boat.’” Read the full article here.
