John LaRoy not only coaches baseball at a local High School in Chicago, he also coaches students in the ways of healthy living, by introducing them to HUMAN (Helping Unite Mankind And Nutrition).

“One day after practice I wanted to get a snack and I looked at the vending machines by the gym, but there was nothing in there I would eat after a workout. And definitely nothing I wanted my players eating,” LaRoy said. This realization fueled LaRoy into becoming a HUMAN advocate and Franchise Owner.

“We want kids to get out of their bad eating habits and start making healthier choices,” says LaRoy. LaRoy invited students to try samples of the snacks in between classes and provide feedback on how they taste. “The feedback we’ve gotten has been pretty positive. A lot of the kids seem shocked that it tastes this good, and some of them are even excited we’re making these things available,” says LaRoy.

Sophia Lopez

Story Teller at HUMAN
An avid morning runner, you can find Sophia on most Saturdays sprinting…from one sale to the next. Humor aside, Sophia discovered her love of running during her sophomore year of high school and has since then run three 10Ks, four half marathons, and one 26.2-mile dash of insanity, an experience she describes as both invigorating and excruciating. During her downtime, Sophia enjoys trying new foods and visiting LA’s wide variety of contemporary art galleries and museums.
